Mr. McLean served in the Marine Corps from 1976 to 2006. He enlisted in 1976 and after finishing recruit training and infantry training school was assigned to Co C, 2d Recon Bn as a Reconnaissance Marine. He re-enlisted in 1979 as an avionics technician serving with VMFA-251 and 115. In 1985 he was selected as a Warrant Officer and was transferred to the 1st Remotely Piloted Vehicle Co, 7th MEB, 29 Palms. Promoted to CWO-2 he was transferred to 2d MarDiv first serving in G-6, and later 10th Marines as the Regimental Electronics Maintenance Officer and one of the S-4 Officers during Desert Shield/Storm. He was promoted to CWO-3 in 1991 and then selected for Captain (LDO) in 1993 and ordered to the US Army Field Artillery School where he served as the Branch Chief, Radar and Meteorological Branch, Warfighter Division, Fire Support and Combined Arms Directorate.

In 1995 Captain McLean was ordered to III MEF Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands where he served as the Maintenance Director MWCS-18, 1st MAW. He was later reassigned to G-6, 3rd MarDiv where he served as the Electronics Maintenance Officer. In 1998 then Major McLean was selected for the College Degree Program and assigned administratively to 1/25 as a student at Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, MA. He completed his BS degree in 18 months graduating Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation Major McLean was ordered to HQMC, I&L as the Maintenance Management Officer. Promoted to LtCol in 2002 he was reassigned in 2003 to MCSC as the Program Manager for TMDE.

LtCol McLean retired in 2006 and took his first civilian job in 30 years with Booz Allen Hamilton where he worked as an Associate in the McLean Headquarters, One Dulles and Stafford offices supporting US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy and DISA acquisition programs and providing logistics support. He left Booz Allen Hamilton in 2010 for a post as a program analyst for the Department of Defense, Business Transformation Agency and now works for the Defense Logistics Agency.

He earned a MS degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in December 2007. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Arctic Service Ribbon.

He is married to his wife of 35 years Phyllis, they have one son David and they all currently reside in Woodbridge.
